"An embodiment practice is a method of using the unique sensations of our body as a tool to develop awareness, stay present, self-regulate, feel whole, find balance, feel connected, know yourself, love yourself, and feel empowered."
- Somatic Movement Project
What is Embodied Counseling & Its Benefits?
Embodied counseling blends body awareness practices with traditional talk therapy. Drawing on therapeutic yoga techniques like breathwork, movement, and mindfulness, it helps regulate the nervous system, process emotions through physical energy, and address issues from within. This approach fosters self-awareness on all levels. Sessions are tailored to your comfort, and we collaborate at your pace, recognizing your inner capacity for healing. Because stress is felt in the body, healing involves listening to its cues. Like the release after crying or singing, combining body practices with therapies such as CBT enhances presence, non-judgment, and acceptance, leading to greater self-regulation, well-being, and a sense of wholeness.

"Each breath is an invitation to return—to feel, to listen, to be. This is the heart of embodiment."

Our Approach
We offer individual counseling for adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, stress, transitions, trauma, body image challenges, low self-esteem, and a feeling of existing without truly thriving. We are committed to being BLM and LGBTQIA+ Affirming. In sessions, we begin by focusing on the present moment. Expect to use breathwork to balance your nervous system, therapeutic yoga poses to move energy and improve mental health, sound like mantras or humming, and guided meditation. The amount of embodiment is guided by you, ensuring your whole being is addressed in healing. We pay attention to bodily sensations through dialogue and movement, always guided by the counselor and decided by you. No prior yoga experience is needed, and you can wear your regular clothes. While yoga has roots in religion, it's a spiritual philosophy about the body-mind-spirit connection, practiced by people of all backgrounds.
